Ngala Lodge may be a child free hotel but that doesn’t mean we don’t like children or that we don’t want to help them and often guests ask us how they can get to visit a local school.

For the first time, this year, we are suggesting to guests that want to visit or donate to local schools, that they visit schools that our staff are involved with rather than a school nominated by a third party. The first school to be chosen is Kafuto Nursery School which was suggested to us by our barman Modou.

This will be the recommended school for November.

The first guests went to visit the school this week and were overwhelmed by the children and the reception they were given. As you can see a few balloons and a couple of footballs go a long way here.

As a result of our guests generosity we were able to give Momodou our barman a selection of pens, pencils, crayons, exercise books and readers to pass on to Kafuto Tumbung Nursery School. The donations also included D15,000 which will be used to build a new well to give the children access to clean water.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Our guests really are very special!

The initative continues with N’demban Lower Basic School, a school with 500 pupils aged between 5-14. Ismaila Camara, Head of Security is the member of staff involved with this school.
